Sitting Bull by MademoiselleNoName Sitting Bull by MademoiselleNoName
"Warriors are not what you think of warriors. The warrior is not someone who fights, because no one has the right to take another life. The warrior, for us, is one who sacrifices himself for the good of others.
His task is to take care of the elderly, the defenseless, those who can not provide for themselves, and above all, the children, the future of humanity."

- Sitting Bull

Your skills are just insane! Explode la plz When I first saw it in as a thumb some time ago, Iwas convinced it's a photo :)

[ And may I ask: In my perception, the face seems "more detailed" than the clothing - which is not mant negative or that I think it's "false" - I´m just curious what´s behind that.
Edit no. 3: Sorry that was a dumbass question to ask and it seems inadequtely pedantic - because I am drawn to this mesmerizing face so much to actually care what's around it. I apologize :)
I just wondered if you were as nervous drawing him like you were with young Ivan the terrible :) ]

Many thanks!

It's generally a feature of my style, and indeed it has sense - clothes with many details would distract attention from his mood, expression and as it seems to me demonic essence  I know the work looks unfinished cuz of this, but i tend to not finish them anyway - sketches are more emotional and "alive" than detailed works, i think.

Phew, I´m glad I didn´t come across as ignorant and yes, my comment kept me busy in my head the whole time so I edited it several times xD - but still left the "main question" in it, because I really wanted to show an example of a stupid question. Or well, it´s a question which was difficult for me to ask, because I didn´t want to sound like I´m criticising your work. Because in general, the whole look of a picture is to me more important, or even most important - like, if it conveys any emotions to me. And in general I assume and respect, that a picture simply looks the way it does, because the artist wanted it that way. And then it´s my turn to "handle" this.

So actually, after posting that comment, I already had the idea that the "less detailed" clothing is for one a good concept actually to really make the viewer focus on the face, just like you say it now. And I also agree, that sketches have this very special thing about them .. like you say, more alive in a way. More genuine. And I like it very much that you do this "neglection" of clothing, it is indeed a little "signature" of yours :)

Thank you so much for replying so kindly, I felt so dumb and impolite asking that question in the first place xD ... But on the other hand, I just got to know what is your personal feeling or motivation about it and I´m always interested in hearing stuff like that :) Thank you! :)

Great drawing and a great quotation from a great man. I've read other quotes from Sitting Bull which indicate that he was a free thinking socialist philosopher in his time.

He once said

"The white man knows how to make everything but he doesn't know how to distribute it"

and about land grabbing white men he said

"Man does not sell the land on which the people walk"

Nice, maybe i'll also hang it on the wall, i mean my drawing. He attracts me so much for unknown reasons.

Woah! Perhaps, you're a reincarnation of this person, and that was a dream from your previous life? Hah
And what did you do there, being Sitting Bull?

In the dream I had leadership qualities, & I was called on by a group of minority leaders in America. I recall riots against the police... In secret I met with some shady men, & they asked my advice on either quelling or prolonging the violence. I remember wearing furs... I've forgotten other details by now, but it was a vivid dream.

Is it a subconscious craving for power and authority? :P
You'd rather be a chief of your Cherokee, and probably had a name with the word Onyx, lol
But you two indeed have one thing in common (besides nationality) - it's charisma undoubtedly.

I don't think that's the case, because I tend to be a loner. Nonetheless, I did embrace the role.
